We Do Fresh Lobster Tails Differently
No tails compare to cold-water Maine lobster tails direct from the icy waters of the North Atlantic—and nobody sources premium lobster as we do. Here’s how we’re different:
- North Atlantic Exclusive — Our tails are harvested only from hard-shell lobsters caught off the Eastern coasts, ensuring that each tail is full of sweet, tender meat. These are the kings of lobster-kind, and they taste like it too.
- Sustainably Sourced — We bring in lobsters every morning directly from local lobstermen who are as passionate about sustainable seafood as we are.
- FREE Overnight Shipping — Arrives the next day to preserve freshness and flavor for many dishes and items. Look for the Free Shipping banner.
As a wholesaler, our lobsters are fresher, higher-quality, and more carefully sourced than anything you’ll find from a massive seafood catalog or grocery store.
Shipping lobster tails for a Summer Party? It’s always a good idea to take delivery ASAP (Tails ship frozen, you know!)
Why Are Our Lobster Tails More Expensive?
Cheap lobster tails often appear too good to be true. They are. There are two reasons why—and we suggest you avoid them if you want the full lobster experience.
- Avoid Warm-Water Lobsters — Rock lobsters caught off the coasts of California and Florida often have a seafood taste and lack the fresh, juicy flavor of Atlantic lobsters.
- Avoid Batch-Frozen Tails — Tails frozen with older, less efficient methods will dry out or shrink during cooking. If you can’t tell how a tail is frozen (look for CHC!), we suggest skipping it.
As native Mainers and avid lobstermen, we’re not about sub-par lobster. For us, it’s authentic cold-water tails, carefully harvested and frozen, or bust.
A Quick Lobster Tail Overview
Lobster tails come from all over the world—Brazil, Florida, South Africa, Maine, Canada—with varying degrees of quality. Cold-water tails (those found around New England and Canada) are the top tier of the bunch on every level.
Our hand-selected, hard-shell lobster tails are delivered right to your doorstep. Easy to cook on the grill. Unforgettably delicious on your table.

Types of Lobster Tails
Here at LobsterAnywhere, we pride ourselves on the size of our cold water Maine lobster tails, and North Atlantic colossal and super colossal lobster tails, as well as their superior quality. We offer everything from 6-7 oz medium lobster tails that are ideal as part of a surf and turf dinner, up to 16-20 oz colossal lobster tails, and even the Triton of the sea, monster lobster tails. Whatever the occasion, we have you covered.
What you won’t find from us are small lobsters, such as 4 oz lobster tails, common in your local grocery stores, or warm water lobster tails that have a gamier flavor and less tender texture. Our lobster tails are the pinnacle of sweet meat with a tender bite, including the most impressive of all, our 20-24 oz monster lobster tails. You’ll never have to search again for lobster tails near me once you taste the quality of our carefully graded and sourced Maine lobster tails. You can purchase with confidence knowing your lobster will weigh what it’s supposed to, and often more. Why? Because you always get what you pay for.
Nutritional Benefits
In addition to being a decadent, luxurious ingredient, Maine lobster tail is also a powerhouse of lean protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. It’s low in saturated fat while being high in vitamin B-12, zinc, and copper.
American lobster tail is a great addition to any well-balanced diet. The lean meat cooks up quickly and, while being succulent in flavor and texture, is low in calories and fat. Having frozen lobster tails on hand makes it easy to prepare a delicious and nutritious meal any night of the week.
Culinary Uses
Having uncooked lobster on hand opens the world of sumptuous culinary adventure and creations. Whether you’re keeping it simple with butter-poached lobster or an 8-oz lobster tail grilled to perfection, or feeling more adventurous by making your favorite lobster risotto recipe, the possibilities for premium Maine lobster are endless.
The cost of a lobster tail prepared at home is not only less expensive, but when you purchase from a wholesaler like LobsterAnywhere, you can be sure that your creations are made with high-quality lobsters that are carefully sourced. You won’t find these lobster tails at your local retail markets or the massive online seafood and meat websites.
Preparing and Thawing
When you purchase lobster tail from LobsterAnywhere, you will receive full instructions on everything from how to thaw lobster tails to different methods of cooking them. Unlike other retailers that batch-freeze their lobster tails, which can result in dry, shrunken meat, our tails are individually quick-frozen. It only takes a few simple steps to defrost them.
- Up to 24 hours before you plan to cook your lobster tails, remove them from the freezer and place them on a plate in the coldest part of your refrigerator, usually the bottom shelf. Allow the lobster tails to gently defrost overnight.
- Before you’re ready to cook them, give them a quick rinse and then cut your lobster tails in your preferred method, whether that be butterflied, piggyback lobster tail, or a split lobster tail.
Cooking Guidelines
Not only is the price of a lobster tail and the quality of the lobster better from LobsterAnywhere than dining out, but you can also have fun preparing it exactly how you love. In addition to the cooking guide included with every purchase, you will also find recipes and cooking guides on our Lobster University blog.
Cooking times vary by cooking method and lobster size. A gentle cooking method, such as steamed lobster, will take a little longer than a high-temperature method, such as broiled lobster. Regardless of the cooking method, the internal recommended temperature will always be the same. Your target temperature is between 135 and 140 degrees. This will ensure that you have a tender lobster tail every single time.
Storage and Shelf Life
Lobster tails are synonymous with special occasions and celebrations. Not only are our lobster tails flash-frozen at peak freshness, locking in flavor and texture, but they’re also easy to order ahead and keep frozen until you’re ready to cook.
Once you receive your lobster tails, remove them from the shipping box and place them in the freezer immediately. Our lobster tails are carefully harvested and frozen. With a freezer set to -10 degrees or lower, they will last for a year or more.
For lobster tails you plan to cook soon after you receive your shipment, place them in the coldest part of your refrigerator, usually the bottom shelf. Allow them to defrost in the refrigerator overnight prior to cooking.
Lobster Tail Grading
Here at LobsterAnywhere, we only sell the highest-grade lobster tails. Unlike other sites you might run across when searching for lobster tails near me, we don’t purchase from vendors but instead bring in the freshest lobster every morning, caught from local lobstermen.
Live lobsters are graded based on their size as well as the condition of their shells. Grade A lobsters are hardshell lobsters with the highest meat-to-shell ratio and are the most sought after. These are the industry standard.
Grade B lobsters are normally caught during the summer months and have hard to medium-hard shells. These are lobsters that haven’t molted their shells recently but are still in the process of regrowing their shells. The meat-to-shell ratio won’t be quite as high, but they are still incredibly delicious.
Soft shell lobsters are just that, lobsters that have recently molted their shells and have a soft new shell. They usually yield about 10% less meat than a hard-shell lobster. Soft shell lobsters aren’t shipped due to their weak and fragile nature. You can shop with confidence knowing you’ll only receive premium hard-shell Atlantic lobster tails from LobsterAnywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I avoid overcooking my lobster tails?
Use an instant-read thermometer. Cooking times will vary by size of the lobster tails and method of cooking, but the target internal temperature remains the same, 135-140 degrees.
My lobster tails have a slight ammonia smell; is this normal?
Your lobster tails should smell faintly of the sea and nothing else.
What’s the best way to thaw lobster tails if they’re frozen?
Place the lobster tails on a plate in the coldest part of the refrigerator the day before cooking, usually the bottom shelf. Allow them to defrost in the refrigerator overnight.
Are there any parts of the lobster tail I should not eat?
The only part to avoid is the digestive tract. Just like you remove the vein running down the tail of a shrimp, the same holds true for lobster tails. Use the tip of your knife to remove it, or pull it away with your fingers.
What tools do I need to eat lobster tails?
The best part of enjoying lobster tails at home is that there is no complicated prep or special tools required. Use kitchen shears or a sharp chef’s knife to split the shell as desired. You can also use the kitchen shears to remove the lobster legs. We also sell seafood utensils to make eating lobster at home easier.
